Accountability for Student Learning

All parents deserve to know how their school is performing and receive the information that they need to make the best choices for their child’s education. To best support our students’ success, we first have to be honest about student performance. That starts with data.

Indeed, it’s more important than ever to know how best to direct resources and support to students and communities most in need through investments and solution-based, research-based strategies. This is especially true for children who are traditionally underserved by Michigan’s inequitable education system: Black, Latino, rural students, English Learners, and students with disabilities.

To hold schools accountable and improve education for all Michigan children, we need full and reliable data. The Education Trust-Midwest is committed to fighting for honest, transparent, and rigorous data and accountability for all schools.
