Fierce advocates for the high academic achievement of all students – particularly those of color or living in poverty.

Equity-Driven Data-Centered Student-Focused

The Education Trust-Midwest works for the high academic achievement of all Michigan students in pre-kindergarten through college. Our goal is to close the gaps in opportunity and achievement that disproportionately impact underserved students, including students of color, English Learners, students with disabilities and children from low-income backgrounds.

As a nonpartisan, data-driven education policy, research and advocacy organization, we are focused first and foremost on doing what is right for Michigan children, working alongside partners to raise the quality of teaching and learning in our public schools.

Our Core Beliefs

  •  The power of education to reinvent Michigan for the 21st century and to close the gaps that separate low-income students and students of color from other young Americans.
  •  Long-standing gaps in opportunity, achievement, and attainment have roots inside and outside of schools. And though we know these gaps are stubborn, we also know they are not inevitable.
  •  A strong education improves the lives of young people, is vital to sustaining our democracy, and strengthens America.
