Strategic Communicator Jennifer Mrozowski Joins the Ed Trust-Midwest Team
ROYAL OAK, Mich. (June 1, 2020) ― The Education Trust-Midwest is pleased to announce the hire of strategic communicator and former veteran Detroit education journalist Jennifer Mrozowski as Director of Communications.
“Jennifer is a passionate advocate for children, dedicated to advancing educational equity and a thoughtful, experienced communication strategist and community leader,” said Amber Arellano, executive director of The Education Trust-Midwest. “Her diverse experience communicating and working with many partners in public and nonprofit sectors, and covering public education at newspapers including The Detroit News, strengthens our ability to share data and best-practice research about educational excellence and equity. We are thrilled to add Jennifer to our talented team.”
Mrozowski comes to the Education Trust-Midwest from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, where she served as executive communications lead for the CEO, developing and executing internal and external communications. Previously, she worked in communications and enrollment at Detroit Public Schools, leading media and enrollment campaigns, parent and stakeholder communications, and crisis communications. As a journalist for more than a decade, Mrozowski covered education, including the Detroit and Cincinnati public school districts, at the Cincinnati Enquirer and The Detroit News. Her awards include recognition for a series on racial disparities in school discipline.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Kalamazoo College, is pursuing her master’s degree in Strategic Communications from Michigan State University, and achieved her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR). Mrozowski may be reached at [email protected].
