ROYAL OAK, Mich. ― The Education Trust-Midwest is pleased to announce Jeff Cobb, a veteran legislative affairs leader, has joined Education Trust-Midwest as the new Director of Government Affairs.

“With more than two decades of experience of working in Michigan politics, Jeff is known for having strong relationships on both sides of the aisle and for his extensive education policy experience,” said Amber Arellano, ETM’s Executive Director.

Jeff began his career working on Capitol Hill before returning to his home state of Michigan in 1998. During his time working for the Michigan legislature, he was very involved in drafting and advising on education policy for two leading state senators. He also worked as a senior staff to the Senate Majority Floor Leader and oversaw which bills came up for a vote on the Senate floor. He finished his time in state government by serving as parliamentarian for the Michigan Senate and overseeing the Senate Clerks, Senate Television and Senate Police Department.  Most recently, Jeff served in the role of government relations for the Michigan Association of School Boards, where he advocated on behalf of all publicly elected school board members.

A proud graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University, Jeff holds a bachelor’s degree in political science.
