Jeff Cobb
Director of Government Affairs
Jeff Cobb is the Director of Government Affairs. His mission is to collaborate with Michigan lawmakers to enact laws and policies that improve public education outcomes with an emphasis on eliminating the achievement and opportunity gaps for students who are traditionally underserved so that all students have the opportunity to achieve at high levels.
He began his political career working on Capitol Hill before returning to his home state of Michigan in 1998. During his time working for the Michigan legislature, he was actively involved in drafting and advising on education policy for two state senators. He also worked as a senior staffer for the Senate Majority Floor Leader and oversaw which bills came up for a vote on the Senate floor. He finished his time in state government by serving as parliamentarian for the Michigan Senate and overseeing the Senate Clerks, Senate Television, and the Senate Police Department. Most recently, Jeff worked for the Michigan Association of School Boards in their government relations department where he advocated on behalf of all publicly elected school board members.
Jeff has more than two decades of experience working in Michigan politics and has developed many strong relationships with both sides of the political aisle. He believes it is important to make improving our public schools a non-partisan issue. He enjoys developing good public policy and bringing together interested parties to enact those policies into law. Jeff’s goal is to narrow the gap between what should be done to improve public education and what actually gets passed in Lansing.
In addition to his work, he has served as president of the board for Great Lakes Cyber Academy and served on the Michigan Capitol Commission. He currently sings in the Delta Community Choir and is active in his children’s school.
Jeff is a proud graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University. He is married to Erin and has two sons and a daughter.
