Research and Data Intern
Emily Atkinson is a Research and Data Intern at EdTrust-Midwest.
She is a graduate student at the University of Michigan, pursuing a master’s degree in educational leadership and policy. She holds a BA in Economics from the College of New Jersey.
Emily began her career in education through Teach For America, serving as a high school special education teacher in Nashville, TN. Her time in the classroom deepened her interest in the role data plays in driving student outcomes, especially for students with disabilities. After teaching, she transitioned into the tech sector, where she gained experience in data analytics and product development. She returned to graduate school to merge her background in education with her technical skills and pursue research and policy work focused on equity.
In her free time, she enjoys reading (her summer goal is to finish Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan Quartet), traveling, cooking, and spending time with her partner and two dogs.
