Mike Arbit is a policy fellow at the Education Trust-Midwest.
Arbit spent six years as a high school math teacher in Grand Blanc, MI, where he worked with a diverse group of wonderful students whose opinions toward math ranged from curious to ambivalent to openly hostile. He implemented a number of research-based teaching strategies and strived to ensure that all students, regardless of background, had the opportunity and support necessary to achieve success.
After leaving the classroom, Arbit spent three years expanding his data analysis experience as an actuarial analyst at AAA. He plans to bring his quantitative skills back to the field of education and broaden his impact to students and teachers across the state.
Arbit holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in Applied Statistics from Pennsylvania State University. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Michigan.
